Clasped so tight, our hands entwined

A cathedral encased in flesh

Beams of blue veins, a steeple of skin

We lay in communion, an altar of sin

Our eyes tilted up, our tongues grow taut

To taste the body and bread

“Shh,” your finger bridges my lips; the cross is complete

“Let’s the nail penetrates, the doves are unleashed

—pray” I close my eyes in agony, in ecstasy

In this space, a hymnal blooms louder

Moistening, warming, saturating

A precipice is reached, and faithful, I leap

My limbs are broken, my breath is swept

In this House of human devotion
